Paul Houghton

Founder, CTO .

MSc innovation management

BSc astronomy and planetary science

HND Electronics

Experience: 25 years in Space, for customers including NASA, ESA, and UKSA.

Current Role: AIV Technician at Space Park Leicester, University of Leicester.

Contribution: As Principal Engineer, Paul brings invaluable hands-on expertise in Assembly, Integration, and Verification (AIV) for space systems. His extensive experience ensures that the optimised ABIE is not only designed effectively but can also be successfully built, tested, and integrated into spacecraft. His presence at Space Park Leicester suggests familiarity with cutting-edge facilities and collaborative research environments.

Dr Guy Peters

CEO and project manager.

Experience: 25 years in Space and Aerospace, working with top-tier clients like NASA, ESA, ISRO, BAE Systems, and Rolls Royce.

Current Role: Senior Project Manager with Turner and Townsend and UK Space Agency Assessor.

Contribution: His extensive project management background, coupled with deep sector knowledge, is crucial for strategic oversight, stakeholder communication (especially with NPL), risk management, and ensuring the project adheres to timelines and budgets. His experience as a UK Space Agency Assessor also provides valuable insight into regulatory compliance and funding landscapes, which is vital for a project aiming for commercialisation.

Utsav Talekar. MSc, MIET, FRAS.

Background: Electronics engineering graduate with 3 years' experience in aerospace and space electronics.

Contribution: Essential for optimising the ABIE's power consumption. Utsav will be responsible for designing efficient ionisers, accelerators, power electronics, and control systems. His experience in aerospace electronics suggests familiarity with the demanding requirements of space, including radiation hardening and reliability

Manish Ghising BSc

Background: Aerospace engineering graduate with hands-on experience in CAD, analysis software, and propulsion system modelling/design.

Contribution: Crucial for the Mass & Volume optimisation, ensuring a compact and lightweight design. His expertise in propulsion system modeling and design is also vital for the physical structure of the engine, contributing to improvements in Thrust & Specific Impulse, and ensuring the mechanical integrity for Operational/Environmental Constraints.

Brandon Saunders, BSc

Background: Mechatronics graduate with hands-on experience in 3D CAD and designing/developing mechanical systems.

Contribution: Fundamental for the Operational/ Environmental Constraints and Reliability aspects. Brandon will be responsible for designing and operating the test facility where the ABIE prototype undergoes rigorous testing under various space environmental conditions (temperature extremes, radiation, vacuum). This ensures the real-world performance and robustness of the optimised engine.
